Formed in 1993, the Freedom Foundation Trust started operations in Bangalore and since then has come a long way. It now undertakes HIV/AIDS, alcoholism, and de-addiction-related work in the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Goa.
The specific activities that it concentrates on are:
- Residential treatment facilities for alcoholics/drug addicts
- Running a centre for HIV/AIDS patients
- Awareness and sensitisation programmes amongst the community about HIV/AIDS and substance abuse
- Policy making and programme implementation for HIV/AIDS at the state and national levels
- Pre and post-test counselling on HIV/AIDS and on addictions
- Employee assistance programmes for the corporate sector
Annual programme budget: Rs. 132 Lakh.
Freedom Foundation is a registered charitable trust (1143/IV) and all donations are exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
