Shristi was started by a group of trained and experienced special educators who felt the need to provide quality services to children with special needs and terminal illness so as to make them self-reliant. Project Dhristi is an outreach project under the umbrella of Shristi Special Academy that serves terminally ill children from economically-deprived families by providing support to the child and his/her family economically as well as emotionally.
Shristi provides:
- services and facilities such as early intervention to children with delayed development, exclusive intervention activity and therapy for children with Down's syndrome, individualised programme for autism, and vocational training for adolescents and adults
- periodic medical screening, psychological assessments, networking with doctors and resource persons in the field of education
- parent guidance through direct interaction with professionals from varied fields of work like nutritionists, family counsellors etc.
Annual programme budget: Rs. 23.50 Lakh.
Shristi Special Academy is a registered society (103/95 - 96) and all donations are exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
