Focus: Community Development through Health, Education and Livelihood Initiative.
Founded in 1975 by the Sufi teacher Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, the Hope Project Charitable Trust is situated near the dargah of his father, Hazrat Inayat Khan, in Nizamuddin basti, south Delhi.
Today, HPCT has evolved from a modest milk programme into a multi-faceted project responding to the varied needs of the community. Garbage collectors, domestic workers, vegetable vendors, self-employed families, zari workers, single mothers of large families - all form a part of HPCT's expanding network.
It provides:
- learning opportunities for those who have dropped out of the formal education system as well as primary education and coaching classes for children enrolled in mainstream schools
- basic health care that includes both curative and preventive services, referrals, supplementary nutrition for malnourished children and pregnant women, immunisation, ante-natal care, a TB clinic, and health awareness programmes
- livelihood and income generation workshops for women and youths, including design and training inputs, market linkages, and setting up of self-help groups
- a crèche for children of working mothers
Annual programme budget: Rs. 51.75 Lakh.
Hope Project Charitable Trust is a registered charitable trust (2427/4) and all donations are exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
