South India Cell for Human Rights Education and Monitoring (SICHREM) was established in 1995 by a group of concerned citizens. It organises:

• a 15-hour certificate course run in ten colleges around Bangalore
• training for university teachers and public workshops twice a month
• district human rights centres in districts of Karnataka that a) address many cases at the local level to ensure speedy justice and b) run human rights clinics where lawyers visit slums once a month and provide free legal advice
• a human rights helpline, documentation centre, and public hearings, mass signatures, and campaign against issues such as death penalty, child labour, and torture

Annual programme budget: Approx Rs. 20 Lakh.

South India Cell for Human Rights Education and Monitoring (SICHREM) is a registered society (286: 95-96) and all donations are exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
