Focus: Community development through the rights-centred approach.
The Anand Group of Industries established SNS Foundation in 1976. A community-based programme, SNS Foundation focuses on health and education programmes through a rights-centred approach aimed at underprivileged families, women, and children. The Foundation's vision is to develop a model of collective responsibility towards community development.
The field-based work of SNS foundation is spread all over the country, covering parts of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. Programmes in healthcare consist of the Reproductive And Child Healthcare On Wheels project, which promotes educational services to the surrounding population. The health assistants training programme provides a six-month educational course to young adults for qualified assistantantship to nurses or as home assistants and community outreach workers. Awareness programmes on HIV/AIDS as well as community sensitisation on issues concerning sexually transmitted diseases are also part of the healthcare facilities.
The prime focus of the Town Enrichment and Action Movement (Project TEAM) is to provide equal opportunities to underprivileged children from within the community. In the last two years the project has been able to integrate about 6,050 out-of-school children into a structured education programme.
Other programme areas also include sustainable livelihood, natural resource management, and social justice through governance.
