Focus: Underprivileged child education.

Since its inception in 1996, the Sankalp Rotary Delhi Cama Place School (named thus to acknowledge sustained support from that branch of the Rotary Club) has operated out of a temporary tin shed on the roadside in Sushant Lok. This March, Sankalp entered into a Joint Venture with the District Child Welfare Council, Haryana and was allotted a HUDA primary school building in DLF Phase IV.

Sankalp has provided education to more than 1000 children since, and in 2003-2004, Sankalp had an average of 139 children in literacy and 54 in post literacy level classes (Std III to VI). Nearly 20 students have passed the Haryana Primary Board exams and four have qualified in the Haryana Middle Board Exams. Fifteen of these now study in classes VI to X at the Government Secondary School, Kanhai Village, and Sankalp bears the higher education and tuition expenses of these students.

The organisation aims at an overall development of its students through education and extra curricular activities, which include PT, arts, craft, yoga, and music. Currently, Sankalp is constructing a 2,200 square foot building in Sushant Lok E Block, which will be used for a vocational centre, a school, a utility bank, and a medical clinic.

Annual programme budget: Rs. 1.30 Lakh

Sankalp Welfare Society is registered society (567) and all donations are exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
