The Indian Cancer Society was established in 1951 to achieve the important objective of a comprehensive campaign against cancer, leading to adequate diagnostic and treatment facilities.
The Delhi branch was established in 1983 and is primarily engaged in:
- providing cancer screening and detection facilities at the Cancer Detection Center at 48, Barbar road and through the mobile van facility
- organising cancer awareness programmes in and around Delhi spreading the message that 'cancer is curable, if detected early'
- providing emotional support through its unit, Cancer Sahyog, to cancer affected families and individuals, through stories of hope, determination, and resilience.
It also provides medical assistance to disadvantaged cancer patients
Annual programme budget: Rs. 25 Lakh.
Indian Cancer Society is a registered society (S/2983) and all donations are exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
